The capability to design and manufacture products that are not feasible by traditional processes is today the major driver of AM use, together with mass customization and logistic simplifications; while manufacturing speed is becoming a secondary advantage. For the related manufacturing opportunities to be exploited, processes that diffused for prototyping purposes need to gain the features of mature industrial technologies.

9 European Funded Research and Innovation Projects developing AM and 3D printing technologies and related value chains in various application sectors created the Additive Manufacturing R&I Group, in order to create synergies and jointly disseminate results developed for the uptake of AM in Manufacturing Industry, with EU funding.

DREAM Project Consortium and the Representatives of the Additive Manufacturing R&I Group will thus meet during FORMNEXT, with academic, industrial and policy makers representatives, to discuss research results and future developments for the uptake of AM technologies in the industrial domain.

The workshop will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest research results, discuss and network, establish new collaborations and ultimately define recommendations for the future funded research and industrial developments in the field.
